The Experience (Part 2)

1/14/14
... So we had a HUGE tour around the church, and met many other volunteers. I remember the woman leading us to a store place told us we might be on clothes duty. The point was to get certain clothes when a runner (Someone retrieving something) calls for it. Honestly, I was quite nervous. The space was quite small, and I was worried I would get the wrong clothes! I wonder how you can tell the different sizes of t-shirts. I don't even know my own size... Then we were led to a kitchen (Or maybe this was before the closet) and told people wake up at 4 AM, to make breakfast and dinner for the people here. Now that takes dedication. The place I remember most was the coffee room, where Jacob and I got sweet, hot chocolate. It was delicious. We had a chat with some people, and learned that many people were waiting to talk to Bob Swan, the pastor. It was amazing! We went downstairs to a fancy door, where we learned about sign-in duty. All the clients who went inside for the shelter program had a ticket, and we would have to write their names (First only for certain reasons) and age. If they wanted to sleep they needed a bed ticket! The woman suddenly assigned the task to us! I remember her asking who was better at spelling names. Jacob and I stared at each other. None of us were good at spelling... (No offense Jacob) So we officially were on bed tickets for the day. Just for the day. After going up, we had to attend a meeting in the volunteer meeting room. There were many chairs aligned in a square. Bob swan motioned us a seat. We were shown a video about a doctor and a homeless guy working together to give medical aid to the homeless. I found it miraculous that a rich doctor would help others for free. The homeless guy in the video told the doctor "Don't dress like a doctor, and don't act like a jerk." It was him giving the doctor a lesson. Even the doctor was aware of it. Afterwards, the new volunteers were introduced. (Including Jacob and I!) The whole time, I was shaking uncontrollably. I was super excited, and I had to go pee really badly. After that, we went back to the cafe house and met some more people! I'll tell you about it another day, bye!

The washroom is the most important place!
The pasta for dinner was great.
